Adventure Lawyer’s cocktail party factoid of the day:

I have never been to East-East, and so therefore have no pictures. . . So here is a picture from Indonesia (which controls the rest of the Island of East, and occasionally engages in crimes against humanity against East, East) instead!
Timor-Leste, which is a tiny country on the otherwise former Portuguese colony island of Timor, is commonly translated as East Timor. This, however, is a misnomer.
While people seem pleased to translate the “Leste,” which is both Indonesian and Malay for “East,” they for some reason forget to translate the Portuguese part of the country’s name. “Timor” also translates as “East!”
So who wants to join me on a journey to the island of “East” to visit the country “East-East?”
Probably no one! Though it has gotten better, it is not really a politically stable place.
